Student ePortfolios: The Sequel
Limited Capacity seats available

In the beginning: account creation and groups/pages. Now with an exciting new twist of embedding links, file size limits no longer hamper what our K-12 students can put into their MyEducation BC ePortfolio. Communicating with parents in a ‘one stop shopping’ platform has never been easier! Move grades or moving schools? No problem, your work moves with you.

The Quarter Shift: Determining the Final Grade using Curricular Competencies
Limited Capacity seats available

In our secondary schools, we are in the midst of a massive change in reporting and communicating with parents. This session is intended to bridge the gap between quality assessment and communicating student learning by providing examples on how to assess, with and without numbers, using the curricular competencies as grading categories. It is possible and manageable. Participants will be provided with an example of how a gradebook could look in their respective subject areas which will inform how to use the standards-based gradebook.

Piloting the Standards-based Gradebook and Family Portal: A Panel
Limited Capacity filling up

Five districts (Maple Ridge, Nanaimo, Kelowna, Langley, North Vancouver) are leading the way in implementation of the standards-based gradebook and the parent portal in BC. They have all embraced different kinds of pilot projects and implementation strategies, they all have some schools with open portals and some teachers using the standards-based gradebook, and they all maintain a focus on their pilot and continued implementation.

This panel is a collection of implementation stories told by the people living and guiding pilot projects. Districts who are considering their own implementation will have a chance to discuss questions and ideas that can help you move your own implementation forward.
